The Oxford Cemetery Association is dedicated to the safety of our families, our employees and the community. We must do our part in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic and ask for your assistance in meeting this goal. Funeral homes and places of worship need to counsel families on these temporary rules, reminding them that they are necessary to save lives.
At this time, the cemetery grounds remain open during our normal operating hours, 7 days a week. Visitors are free to walk or drive to their destination.
Unfortunately, we are not able to meet the Health Director’s requirements for sanitizing the Chapel. Therefore, we will need to lock the Chapel and will not be able to inter cremains in the columbarium during the emergency.
The state of Ohio has relaxed the limitation on gathering sizes for funerals. The new requirments still includes the wearing of face masks and maintaining social distancing of at least 6 feet at all times.
During the emergency, we will not be able to accept flower pieces from the funeral processions, as they create a risk to our staff while they are lowering and closing the grave site. Flowers may be brought to the grave site after the grave is closed.
Our cemetery staff will not attend the burial. They will not be able to help as pallbearers. They will need to maintain a safe distance until after everyone leaves. This includes the vault company personnel. Lowering and closing activities will occur after everyone leaves or are in their cars.
It is an honor to be a place where many find peace amidst our beautiful and historic landscape. We hope to continue to offer a place of peace and solace in the days ahead. We regret any inconvenience these measures may cause. We look forward to the day when we can return to normal operations and these measures are no longer necessary.
Thank you for your understanding.
